How to craft a blog post that will rank
If you're a blogger, you know the importance of ranking on the first page of Google. But how do you create a blog post that will rank high? One of the first steps is to find the right keyword. In this blog post, we'll show you how to discover a keyword and turn it into a rankable key phrase that you can use to outrank your competition. Using some powerful artificial intelligence tools, we'll also show you how to create a compelling blog title and outline in minutes. Plus, we'll share some essential must-have's that your blog should include to increase your chances of ranking higher. So, let's get started!
Discover your keyword
A seed keyword is a term that defines the concept or idea behind what you're trying to search for.
We'll use this tool to drill-down from a seed keyword into an accessible and rank-able "key phrase" we can rank for.
Add a seed keyword into the Keyword Wizard tool, choose your location and click Search.
The key phrase "Backlinking for seo" gets 3,600 average of the total searches every month (volume) with a difficulty of 18% which is acceptable.
Check out the competition
Our Competition tool shows you how's ranking in the top 20 slots on Google.
We'll use this tool to find out who's ranking for this exact keyphrase.
Paste in the key phrase.
Click Search.
Scroll down until you find a result with the exact keyphrase in the title.
Check the details of a page ranking with the same key phrase. If this site is similar to your own in terms of Page Authority (PA) and number of backlinks, then you'll have a good chance to rank for the same key phrase using a different title.
Use your best judgement on whether you could write a better article. For example, if the ranking page doesn't have more one image, even just creating a blog post with two images increases your chances of ranking higher!
Don't be discouraged if the top 10 slots are taken by hugely popular domains, usually Google will suplant search results with posts that aren't exactly the same as the search query until there's enough relevant content with the exact search phrase to display.
Create the blog title
We'll be using two artifical intelligence tools to save hours of content creation.
First, we'll use the Blog title Generator tool to create a bunch of potential blog post titles to use.
Paste in the title of the blog post you want to outrank. You can also just use your key phrase.
Click Generate.
The A.I. will generate 10 options for you to use. Scroll down until you find a result with the exact keyphrase in the title.
You can re-generate these options as many times as you like.
Copy the title you want, to use in our next tool.
Create the blog outline
The final two artifical intelligence tool we'll use is the Blog Outline Generator.
This will create your entire blog outline for you in under a minute.
Paste in the title you just generated.
Click Generate.
The A.I. will generate a full outline for you to craft a unique blog post.
You can re-generate these options as many times as you like.
Blog must-have's
As a basic rule all blogs should have the following;
Keyword / keyphrase in the URL
Make the URL to your post as close to the blog title as possible. For example, if the blog is entitled 'Leveraging Backlinking for SEO to Build Your Site Authority and Drive Traffic' the URL should be something like https://serpjoy.com/blog/leveraging-backlinking-for-SEO
H1 tag for the title
HTML has six different title tags - h1, h2, etc. The h1 is considered as the most important title and the h6 is the least important.
Two external links
The content of your blog post should, as a rule of thumb, link out to two authoritative pieces of content that support your blog post.
One internal link
You should also link to another blog post of similarly helpful content within your own website. This will take the Google crawler on a detour back into your website and support your Page Authority.
Two custom images
At the very least your blog should contain two unique images with ALT tags which describe what the images are. Usually this means a hero / header image and one internal image within the content of the post.
